How To Apply
All applications must be submitted through this link on mathprograms.org by August 15th in order to receive full consideration.
Due to limited space and funding, anyone interested in attending GROW must fill out an application, even if you are not requesting funding. Applications are via mathprograms.org and the link is here. Funded participants will receive reimbursement for travel (up to a stated limit) as well as shared accommodations in double-occupancy hotel rooms whenever possible. The organizers will work with selected participants to accommodate rooming preferences as much as possible.
The organizers will take into account the following considerations when determining funded and unfunded participation.
- Is the applicant currently enrolled in undergraduate education at a US-based college or university?
- How has the applicant taken steps towards preparing themselves for a math or statistics post-undergraduate program (e.g. Ph.D., Masters, Bridge to Ph.D.)? This may include describing relevant coursework and grades, research experiences, internships, or a compelling explanation for their interest.
- Does the applicant already have access to substantial mentoring and guidance at their home institution? What does the applicant envision as the benefit to them in their involvement in GROW? Part of the purpose of GROW is to provide access to mentoring and guidance when otherwise not readily available.
- How does the applicant plan on supporting GROW’s stated mission, in particular what is the applicants plan for after graduating and how will the applicant “help build a profession in which gender identity is not a barrier to participation”?
- One letter of recommendation should be solicited through mathprograms.org as part of the application.
Please note that while GROW may request additional demographic information to that listed above for reporting purposes, it will not use this in determining funding or participation decisions. In particular, students of all genders, sexualities, ethnicities, races, nationalities and religions are encouraged to apply to GROW.
If you have questions, please reach out to the organizers.
